Winter Illness Advice

A Melrose Learning Trust School
The  UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) press release dated 02 January 2023 entitled: Back to school advice issued amid high levels of flu, COVID-19 and scarlet fever has resulted in a number of inquiries to Public Health about current guidance. There is no change in guidance and the re-issuing of advice is in response to current high levels of seasonal flu and COVID-19. These levels are likely to continue to increase in the coming weeks and we are also seeing high numbers of cases of scarlet fever, which is caused by group A streptococcus. Below is the ‘Schools leaflet – winter  illnesses: info parent, pupils, staff’.  It includes details of common winter infections including flu, covid-19 and scarlet fever, advice about when people should not attend school and links to the NHS website for further information.
