Our Community

A Melrose Learning Trust School

Our PTA

We have a very committed and active PTA (Parent and Teacher Association) who organise many fun events for all of our children. As well as providing children with these fun opportunities, they also raise valuable funds for the school which enable us to enrich the curriculum and provide additional resources for teaching, for example our new Key Stage 2 Reading Scheme!

The PTA meet termly to discuss future events and would value any additional support, which you may be able to give. Please contact the school office for further information about forthcoming events and to offer your support.

Everybody is welcome!

Our Local Links

We work very closely with our main feeder Nursery, Rosemary Lane  https://www.rosemarylane.durham.sch.uk/ throughout the year.  Children from the Nursery are invited over to school for different events including our school Nativity performance.

We enjoy working in partnership with staff and children from school in the local areas.

We take part in a wide variety of activities alongside other schools in the area including spots competitions and events and festivals.

Our Random Acts of Kindness initiatives allows children to go out and visit people in the local community.

We have strong links with the local library where all of our children are members! Children visit on a half-termly basis to read and take books out to read at home or school.

Sport in the Local Community

As a member of the School Sports Partnership, we take part in many inter school sports competitions and events. These allow our children to demonstrate their wide range of skills and work together to achieve a sporting goal. We participate in many festivals and competitions throughout the school year. We also provide children the opportunities to experience new sports such as Judo and Fencing.
