A Melrose Learning Trust School
Good afternoon parents/carers I would like to offer a sincere thank you to everyone for your help and support this week. The feedback from teachers regarding the remote learning has been extremely positive. I hope you will agree that the work set by all teachers throughout the week has been to a very high standard. All work set has followed the Medium-Term Planning (available to view on the School Website) and was a direct reflection of what the children would have been learning had they been in school. The fact that teachers have now also been able to provide feedback and communicate with both parents and children, has been a very positive step forward. Please can I reiterate my words earlier in the week. Do not worry if you have not been able to get all of the work set by teachers completed. We are aware that all family circumstances are different. Please feel free to submit the work as and when it is completed. Teachers will also be setting half termly homework that children need to bring in with them when school restarts on Monday 2nd November.  Please see a below some key information and dates for after the half term break. Parental Consultation Meetings: In November, we usually have our Parental Consultation Meetings which allow parents to discuss their child's progress, attainment, behaviour etc. with their class teacher. Due to the pandemic and the current high rates in the County Durham area, unfortunately we will not be inviting parents into school in November. However, teachers will be providing an individual written report for each child. The purpose of the report will be:
  • To inform parents about how well your child/children have settled back into school since the beginning of September
  • To inform parents of your child/children's behaviour in school
  • To inform parents of the progress your child has made so far this term
  • To inform parents of the key strengths and areas for improvement for your child/children
As a school, we normally only send out written reports at the end of the school year. However, we feel passionately about keeping parents up to date with their child's progress in school and in the current circumstances, felt that a written report was the most effective way of doing this. The Autumn Term reports will be sent out to parents/carers on FRIDAY 13th NOVEMBER. If, following the report, you would still like to speak to your child's class teacher or have any questions, then this can be arranged through either a phone call or Zoom meeting.  Flu Vaccine: The Flu Vaccine has been rearranged for Monday 16th November so there is no need for parents to take children for their Flu vaccine themselves. A reminder will be sent out about this after the half term break. Nativity Performance: We are currently finalising plans for this event and information will follow after half term for our EYFS and Year 1 parents.  Once again, thank you for all of your help and support, it really is greatly appreciated.  On behalf of myself, staff and governors we wish you all a restful and enjoyable half term break. Many thanks Mr Appleby
