I hope this update finds you all safe and well and that everyone has enjoyed a fantastic summer break. As a staff, we are all really looking forward to welcoming children and families back to school tomorrow. We know we are going to have another fun, exciting and memorable year together in our own unique, special way.
Unfortunately, we have had quite a serious flood during the six weeks holidays which has resulted in considerable damage to certain areas of the building (School Library, KS2 Boy's toilet, ICT room, my office, Staff Room and adjoining corridors). Despite this, we were determined that the school would open on Tuesday as planned as we did not want our wonderful children to miss valuable learning time. Therefore, school will be open as normal tomorrow, but there will be certain areas of school (as mentioned above) that children will not be able to access. This will all be explained clearly to children in the morning so please do not worry.
Workmen from Durham County Council have been on site for the past week and we are hopeful that school will be returned to normal in the next two to three weeks.
During this time, we will endeavour to keep things as normal as possible for the children but we would appreciate your understanding and patience with certain aspects of school life eg. reading books being changed etc.
Thank you for your support and understanding and I will provide a further update as the situation develops.
Kind regards
Mr Appleby
