PSHE stands for Personal, Social, Health and Economic education. It is a school curriculum subject in England that helps children and young people stay healthy, safe and prepared for life – and work – in modern Britain. When taught well, PSHE education also helps pupils to achieve their academic potential.
It encompasses relationships, careers, and economic wellbeing, and since September 2020, aspects of Relationships Education, Sex Education (RSE), and Health Education are statutory for state-funded schools.
At Easington C of E, we nurture the whole child through a rich, inclusive curriculum that supports emotional, physical, and academic growth. By weaving together RSHE, SMSC, and Fundamental British Values, we prepare pupils to thrive, show respect and tolerance, and succeed in an ever-changing world. Our PSHE curriculum equips children with essential life skills and fosters independence, resilience, and responsibility.

Our Whole School PSHE Curriculum
Our curriculum consistently builds upon prior knowledge and learning is planned in a well-thought-out series of lessons (Medium Term Planning) that build progressively towards a defined end point at which the essential, non-negotiable knowledge pupils need to remember, is clearly outlined and assessed against.
Curriculum Enrichment
Where possible, within every unit of work we provide our children with memorable experiences that enhance their learning, develop a wide skill set, improve resilience and instil passion and interest. This might include a school trip, or a visitor coming into school.
Pupil Voice
We believe that when children become confident and reflective learners in PSHE, they are able to articulate their understanding with clarity and assurance. Pupil voice is therefore a valuable tool in assessing progress. If a child can confidently express and explain their own views in response to an overarching enquiry or theme, this demonstrates that both the curriculum and its delivery have been successful.
High-Quality Outcomes
All children work in ‘PSHE Reflection’ books to record their learning. Some quiet reflection time can help students to digest the information they have just learned. While this reflection predominantly takes place in their minds, it can be helpful for them to write or record any key thoughts or realisations somewhere.
